Agusti Torello Mata

 

Agustí Torelló Mata senior is one of the great, old men of the Cava in northern Spain. For many years he worked as an oenologist and adviser to the great cava houses of Freixenet and Codorníu, before joining forces with his sons in the 1980s to establish a cava production under his own name in the cavernous hamlet of Sant Sadurní d'Anoia. The success should prove him right, today belong the Cavas of Agustí Torelló Mata, among the best in the market. The annual production volume is only about 350,000 bottles, for a sparkling wine manufacturer very little.
The offer ranges from the already very high quality and dry Agustí Torelló Mata Brut Reserva to the Trepato grape variety Rosato, the dust-drying Gran Reserva Brut Nature, the rare barrel-mounted Barrica Brut Nature to the top model Kripta Gran Reserva Brut Nature, the one of the best cavas in the country. Agustí Torelló Mata works only with the autochthonous grape varieties Xarello, Macabeo and Parellada.
